About THE Library

The Central Library of Hazi A. K. Khan College stands as the pulsating hub of our institution, conceived in 2008 as an indispensable reservoir of knowledge. Housing approximately 8714 books, 07 academic journals (subscribed) and 07 periodicals, its role as the cornerstone of our academic landscape cannot be overstated. More than a repository, it embodies our commitment to nurturing erudition, ensuring access to a comprehensive spectrum of resources essential for both students and faculty. With a steadfast vision to satiate the intellectual thirst of our community, the library diligently gathers diverse literature and periodicals. By embracing a blend of traditional print and modern electronic media, it offers an array of high-quality services not only to our students, teachers, and staff but also extends its resources to external readers and researchers from diverse institutions.

The library's technological evolution is evident through the adoption of Koha Library Management Software, streamlining services such as acquisition, Web-OPAC, and lending. Through this amalgamation of technology and academia, the library stands poised to meet the evolving needs of our scholarly community.

Our vision for the Central Library is to provide excellent resources and innovative services that encourage creativity, intellectual curiosity, and facilitate lifelong learning and research among our students.

 

Mission of the Library

To foster excellence in teaching, learning, and research, and to promote service to our users, we aim to continually develop and provide computerized access to information resources and services. Our goal is to cultivate high-quality students capable of meeting both present and future needs of the community.

  • To offer comprehensive information support for the teaching-learning process within the college;
  • To furnish a range of library services and facilities for readers; and

Rules and regulations

  • Reading room facility is available from 11.00 A.M.- 3.00 PM on all working days.
  • Library remains closed on Sundays and Public Holidays only as per University holiday list.
  • All Teaching, Non-teaching staff members and students are the members of the Library.
  • All teaching staff including Librarian is allowed to lend maximum 10 books from the library. However, holding of books for more than 30 days, renewal is obligatory.
  • The Non-teaching staff members, library staff are allowed to borrow not more than 5 books at a time for 30 days.
  • Overdue charge for the Teaching and Non-teaching staff members is Rs.2/- per day per book.
  • Teachers, Non-teaching staff of the college shall have to take Library Clearence Certificate before they take release from this college to join other institution or get retired from this college.

For student members

  • Students can borrow maximum two books at a time depending on the availability of the same in the library for 15 days, which can be further renewed for a maximum period of another 15 days.
  • The casual students are not allowed to borrow books or to use library reading room.
  • Students can reissue their lending books for maximum two times provided that books have not been on demand by any other members of the library.
  • Overdue charge for the students is Rs. 1.00 per day per book.
  • No Journals/Magazines are issued for home use either to students or any staff.
  • In case of any emergency, special permission is to be taken from the Principal.

Loss of Library Books

  • In case of loss of Library book the latest edition of the lost book is to be replaced to the library.
  • Decision on out of print books will be taken by the Library Committee.
  • Borrowed books are to be returned before appearing any semester examinations. No Marksheet will be issued unless library clearance is issued by the library staff.

General Rules

  • College Identity Card is compulsory for all enrolled students for availing of library facilities.
  • At the time of entering the library, all personal belongings are to be kept at the prescribed counter, and must be taken back when the depositor leaves the library. The library will not be liable for any loss/damage caused to the belongings kept in the prescribed counter.
  • For the library's ongoing improvement, students are invited to share their recommendations by utilizing the suggestion box placed within the library area.
  • No admission is permitted in Study Room without proper Student Identity Card.
  • Books/any materials issued in the study room will have to be returned before leaving the Study Room.
  • Books will be issued/can be returned within 4 PM. Lending services are open to Students from Monday to Saturday.
  • Reference books can be used within the library reading room only.
  • Use of Internet is allowed for educational/academic purpose within the permission of the Librarian. The students are not allowed to use any social networking sites, playing games, etc.

The library rules framed above are subject to change from time to time as when Library Committee deems it necessary to reframe the same.
